Hi there!

Candida guilliermondii is a species of Candida, a common genus of yeast. Most species of Candida are normal commensals of humans and animals, but several, including C. albicans and C. guilliermondii, can be human pathogens. C. guilliermondii isolated from sputum could indicate infection of the lungs by this organism. The severity of the infection relates directly to your immune status and presence of underlying predisposing conditions (e.g., malignancies, pulmonary diseases, etc…). Typically, treatment of pulomonary candidiasis is with antifungal agents, such as azoles (fluconazole or itraconazole), and/or amphotericin B. In the lungs, pathogenic microorganisms can gain access to the bloodstream, where they can disseminate throughout the body.

As far as TB: Tuberculosis is caused by a bacterium, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, or, rarely, by Mycobacterium bovis. Secondary pulmonary infections accompanying TB could in fact include pulmonary candidiasis.

I hope that this is helpful. Good luck!
